Company Profile:
A component of Maya used to paint brush strokes and particle effects on a 2D canvas or on or between 3D geometry. Paint Effects can be used as a traditional paint program to paint images on a canvas, to paint repeatable textures applied to 3D geometry in scenes, or to paint in 3D space. Also known as texture.
Industry:Software
In hair, a tool that lets you add dynamic hair to a NURBS or polygonal surface, to remove hair, or to paint follicle attributes of an existing hair system.
Industry:Software
A technique for painting deformation strengths over the surface of a deformer using the 3D paint tool. This makes it easy to use the Sculpt Deformer to create realistic muscle shapes. The paint sculpt map creates a new file texture, which it connects to the sculpt deformer's Texture attribute. If a non-file texture is already connected to the deformer, it is disconnected before painting begins.
Industry:Software
The industry standard for composite video in most of Europe and in many other nations. PAL divides video images into 576 horizontal scanlines, and the resolution across a scanline can vary from 512 pixels to 1024 pixels. The highest effective pixel resolution is the same as NTSC, somewhere around 720. The frame rate for PAL is approximately 25 frames per second.
Industry:Software
In general, a part of the Maya interface that allows you to view objects or use controls.
Industry:Software
In modeling, a unique numeric value (like a coordinate) of a point on a curve or surface. Parameters let you refer to specific points along the length of a curve.
Industry:Software
The method used to number the points along a curve. Maya provides two types of parameterization: uniform (where edit points are numbered with consecutive integers), and chord-length (where edit points are numbered with decimal values representing their location on the curve).
Industry:Software
A coordinate system measured across the surface of an object, rather than in 3-dimensional world space.
Industry:Software
A constraint relating the position (translation and rotation) of one object to another object, so that they behave as if part of a parent-child relationship.
Industry:Software
An object or other item that controls the attributes of one or more child objects. A parent can also be the child of another parent.
