Адам

Според создавањето приказна во Битие, првиот човек. Од оваа приказна Црквата дозна дека човештвото беше првично замислен во состојба на светост и правда и дека првиот предци на човечкиот род ја заборавивте оваа држава за себе и за целото човештво од гревот ("оригинален грев"). Христос е наречен "втор" или "новиот Адам", бидејќи тој воведе во нова креација од простувањето на гревот и враќање на човештвото на благодатта на пријателство Бог изгуби од првобитниот грев (359, 375, 388, 390, 402-404, 504; CF. 635, 655).
